Volunteer Opportunities

The following opportunities are available to those individuals interested in serving a cause that desperately needs your help. Your time and talents benefit the lives of many families and individuals fighting the War on Drugs.

  • Special Events
    Participate in youth activities and/or fundraising events; assist in planning an event; volunteer at the event; solicit prizes/auction items; prepare post-event acknowledgements; utilize special skills that could help for the event (i.e. photography, graphic arts, etc.)

  • Office Rescue
    Assist with mailings, copying, filing; answer phones and/or make phone contacts; prepare packets/manuals; laminate materials; make posters, props; grade student pre/post tests, surveys; assist in update/maintenance of NCADA library.

  • Public Awareness - Community Outreach
    Attend health fairs as an NCADA representative; show films/videos to community groups; distribute posters or other promotional materials to schools, churches, businesses; assist in advocacy efforts.

  • Senior Awareness Project - "Recipe For Trouble"
    Serve as a peer group facilitator to speak with seniors on effects of both mixing medications and taking alcohol with medications; help coordinate presentations with various senior citizen groups.

  • "Formula for Prevention"
    Serve as a facilitator for a public awareness program to persuade women of child-bearing years and their male counterparts to abstain from drinking, smoking, and/or using other drugs before and during pregnancy and to make healthy decisions after the baby is born; help coordinate presentations at various college campuses, corporate offices, social service agencies, etc.

  • Book BEES (Building Essential Empowerment Skills)
    Present a "Prevention by the Book" program designed to teach early prevention lessons via traditional children's literature; read a story to preschool-aged children and follow-up with a related activity.

Additional Information
The possibilities for serving NCADA are endless, whether on the basis of an ongoing or short-term commitment. Volunteer opportunities are also available for special groups interested in doing community service projects.
